wild nature

i adore this trend! promoting wildlife through fashion... i am all over it!! seeing a human cub (for they truly are wild) wearing a t-shirt with a bear cub on makes my heart feel really happy! and seeing as i am very partial to wildlife chit-chat it always gives me an opportunity to say: oooh, you have a hippo on your t-shirt! lo-&-behold, the bait was taken and the child responds that it is a baby brown bear and that they like eating berries and salmon that swims up the river. spot on!

love!

all of the above garments are currently available at country road

thanks to ek&jy for the sketch

PAINT BRUSH

thank you burberry, available at hyde park, johannesburg and country road for participating in this amazing story.

one should most certainly buy your child a white button down shirt, there are so many ways to wear it, try it with a beautiful circular or gathered skirt and a pair of mary jane shoes (they don't need to be polka-dotted) and top it up with a cardigan, you're sure to make a good impression at any social club. or wear it under an over-sized dungaree (look in the boys' section) with a pair of high-top sneakers or if you struggle to get your darling into closed shoes wear it with a pair of sandals (love the transparent jellies from burberry)

a comfortable pair of slacks will go a long way, it is worth investing a bit extra to get a decent pair with straight or tapered legs. with an adjustable waist band it will grow with your child and remember this type of leg traditionally sits just below the ankle, so don't panic when your daughter grows tall. it is also remarkably versatile to various body shapes.

apple-bee editorial

i am very excited as this is my very first fashion post for We Play Lego. my name is nicky, not weplay, though it is a great synonym for my name.

why we play lego? i wanted the name for this blog to inspire an image of togetherness, of parents and their children spending quality time together, using one block at a time to build something greater and bigger and the result is likely to be a flying crocodile that looks more like a chopped fever tree (acacia tree very common in south africa) with wheels instead of branches. (poor tree) don't fret. i'll develop our CONSERVATION side at a later stage.

the crux - kids rock, have fun together, quality time, and fashion - cant help it.

APPLE BEE

thanks to monsoon clothing, available at accessorize we were able to create this beautiful story. each little girl should have a monsoon dress in her wardrobe, you don't need to be a girly-girl to wear a floral dress, try them with red converse all stars or vellies from earthchild and customise the look with a home-knitted cardigan.
...and for the girly-girl refer to styling tips in apple-bee...

(vellies = a type of desert boot)
